Chromatonal Music is owned by composer/performer Fred Malouf. Mr. Malouf has written music for many instruments and styles but his focus for the last 17 years has been in electronic and computer based music.
Mr. Malouf received his Doctor of Arts in Composition and Computer Science from Ball State University and is also a graduate of Bowling Green State University and Berklee College of Music. In 1984 he was composer in residence at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (Stanford University) under a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. He is a software engineer for Seer Systems, Inc. and in the past he has worked for Kaleida Labs, Apple Computer and Sequential Circuits.
Mr. Malouf has been involved in electronic and computer music for over eighteen years and has written pieces for tape, tape and instruments, and live performance. Recent pieces include:
Malouf has received grants to perform at two festivals in Poland, including Warsaw Autumn in 1991. He has also had numerous performances in the United States. Mr. Malouf is a member of Qwire, an electronic ensemble in the San Francisco Bay area.
